Ducati 1299 Superleggera
While attending the Toronto Motorcycle Show recently, we arranged a Motorcycle Experience exclusive interview with Ducati North America’s CEO, Jason Chinnock. We also scored a private front row seat to the unveiling of Ducati’s all new carbon fiber beauty, the 1299 Superleggera.
Ducati’s 1299 Superleggera is a sensational motorcycle. According to Ducati, it’s the most powerful twin cylinder production bike they’ve ever produced. With a price tag of $85,000 dollars and limited production run topped at 500 (a mere 15 of which are available in Canada) the 1299 Superleggera is now poised to be one of the most precious motorcycles to hit the market this year. Complete with carbon fiber frame, wheels and farings, Ducati claims that the 1299 is the most technically advanced motorcycle they have ever produced. How advanced? Well thanks to the bikes six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) you’ve got Traction control, Wheelie control and Slide control. Plus you’ve got ABS, Launch control and Engine Brake control. Mate all that technology up with a super lightweight chassis and roughly 215 ponies, and you’ve got one heck of a ride. Ducati is definitely making a statement with the 1299 Superleggera, and asserting they are pushing the envelope when it comes to innovative sportbike design and technology.
