Motorcycle Guide to the Lower St. Lawrence River

Part Two | Motorcycle Guide to the Lower St. Lawrence River

Dave and Norm determined that their ultimate destination on their trip would be Percé Rock.  It’s a huge limestone formation in the Gulf of the St. Lawrence located off the tip of the Gaspé Peninsula in Quebec. Percé Rock was an important landmark for early European colonists and is a fitting goal for an exploration of Gaspé. Dave and Norm picked up their BMW K1600GTs in Quebec City and headed south east using the Quebec Bridge to cross the lower St. Lawrence before turning east towards the Gaspé Peninsula. They make their first pit stop in Rivier du Loup.  The town is the first fork in the road on a trek into eastern Canada; you can take a ferry to the north shore of the St. Lawrence, you can head south east to Moncton or you can continue heading due east to Gaspé.   Dave and Norm took a moment to recall their seventh Ultimate Ride, when they toured the north shore of the St. Lawrence, before heading east towards their ultimate destination.  If you have time, there’s lots to see on the south shore of the St. Lawrence.  The first town Dave and Norm came upon was Montmagny, which is famous for manufacturing accordions and has an accordion museum.  And about twenty-five kilometers up the road from Rivier du Loup, there’s a motorcycle museum which tells us that this is definitely a motorcycling destination.

The mission of the TELUS Ride For Dad is to raise funds to save men’s lives by supporting prostate cancer research and raising public awareness of the disease. Our goal is for men to continue to be there for their families and friends for years to come. The parade of vehicles grabs the attention of the masses and the media on ride day, the research helps find hope for the future and the awareness has the potential of saving men’s lives today.
