2016 Honda CB1100A

Motorcycle Review

The 1,140 cc air-cooled DOHC engine generates impressive amounts of midrange power plus a smooth, sophisticated feel for a rewarding riding experience.” – Honda Motorcycles Canada

Admittedly, we were stacking the deck in Honda’s favour when we asked Dave Fox to review the CB1100A. Dave is devoted to his Honda Valkyrie and is the perfect audience for the 2016 CB1100A’s retro styling. Dave has owned Hondas since his younger days (back in the late 60s and 70s) and the CB1100A reminds him of the 750 Honda he owned back in the day so there’s a huge nostalgia factor. Though the CB1100A draws you in with its appearance, for Dave Fox, it was the performance that stood out. First off, the fit and finish makes it super fun to ride – 1100CCs are packed into a low and compact frame giving it maneuverability and fun café racer vibes.

The subtle purr of the engine is anything but nostalgic. It connotes a completely modern motorcycle with all the power and technology that implies. The torque on the CB1100A is satisfying and fun. The engine engages, almost unnoticeably, in any gear. The brakes are anything but old school as well with plenty of stopping power in the linked ABS. Dave even found it extremely comfortable. Dave Fox had trouble finding any criticism for the CB1100A. It’s the whole package – advanced function and great style.
